Breakwater, Luxury Private Villa – Lake Como, Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Set in the shadow of the snow-covered Rhaetian Alps and hemmed in on both sides by steep wooded hills, Lake Como is the most spectacular of the region’s three major lakes.
Lake Como has been attracting aristocrats, artists, and other well-heeled visitors from across Europe for centuries. These days, the area retains its sense of glamour and is famous for its celebrity residents such as George Clooney, Madonna, and Sylvester Stallone, as well as for its starring role in a host of movies, including the James Bond film Casino Royale.

In its breathtaking privileged waterfront location sits the ultra-luxury Breakwater, private villa for discerning and sophisticated guests.

Breakwater is a truly unique and magnificent contemporary property right on the shores of Lake Como just across from Bellaggio in, arguably, one of the best locations possible.
In 1922 the Cranchi family started its first boat yard in Griante where the family built boats for almost a century; in 2014 the yard went through a complete 3-year renovation to become a high-end 1900m2 luxury villa that was renamed Breakwater, with accommodations for up to 14 guests in 3 suites and 4 luxurious double bedrooms.

The typical characteristics of the industrial boatyard have been preserved and, combined with the incredible architectural design and stunning interiors, Breakwater really is one of a kind on Lake Como.
The design, the unique character, the comfort and the undoubtable luxury of Breakwater emanates both inside and out and it is true to say that once one has arrived it really is very difficult to leave.
With its enviable position right on the lake shore with beautifully finished decking and private boat dock, guests will cherish the luxury of exploring and moving around by boat. Once one has reached Breakwater oneโ€™s car can simply be closed safely in the (huge) garage and guests can switch off, relax and savour this magical destination.
With its phenomenal amount of space, even larger groups will still have the luxury of enjoying numerous many living and relaxation areas be it inside the villa itself or outside on one of the many decks, by the pool or beneath a gazebo with outstanding views across the lake.

Lake Como, Italyย ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Many destinations have been in fashion and then out over the years but Lake Como is constant in its splendour – Italy’s beautiful, lyrical playground.

The principal towns around the shores of the lake include:

Menaggio

One of the prettiest villages on Lake Como’s western shore, Menaggio has much going for it. Its compact cobblestone centre adjoins the riverside promenade, and is dotted with shops and outdoor cafes. This is also a fine departure point for walks into the craggy heights around Val Menaggio. In town, you can also stroll the ancient Roman road that goes all the way to Rezzonico.

Bellagio

Bellagio is a beautiful little town in a picture-perfect location on the promontory where Lake Como separates into two branches. The town is historic and charming, with a waterfront promenades, stately hotels and two gardens open to the public: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi.

Como

Como is a lively and pleasant town with an appealing historical centre and a scenic location at the southern end of the east branch of Lake Como. The impressive cathedral (Duomo), like most in Italy, was built and added to over a period of centuries, so you can admire Gothic and Renaissance features including some fine tapestries and paintings. The town’s earlier cathedral (built in the tenth century), San Fedele, is another fine sight, as are the tall nine-hundred-year-old gateway, Porta Vittoria, and the Romanesque church Sant’Abbondio. The town’s art gallery (Pinacoteca) is also worth a visit.

Varenna

Varenna is a peaceful resort, smaller than Bellagio and also very beautiful. You can admire views from the Castello de Vezio or simply relax by the lakeside. Varenna Tourist Information Office is in Piazza San Giorgio.

Lecco

Lecco is a rather industrialised town on the least touristy section of Lake Como, the fiord-like eastern branch of the lake. However, the town has good public transport and good opportunities for serious mountain-walking. The nineteenth-century novelist Alessandro Manzoni set his important novel I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed) here, in his hometown.
