Fasano Hotel Rio de Janeiro is the first building in Brazil designed by Philippe Starck, making it the most fascinating destination at Ipanema’s beachfront. Among the attractions are the infinity edge pool that leans over the beach, surrounded by the Arpoador beach,the Dois Irmãos Mountains and the Corcovado. Its architecture and interior design pay homage to the spirit of Brazilian design of the 1950’s and 1960’s, and the glorious Bossa Nova era.
Channeling the heyday of Jobim and Gilberto, the staff wears Ocimar Versolato–inspired uniforms. Distinctly Brazilian materials like Îpe flooring and the enormous piquiá tree stump used for the reception desk are mixed with Grecian marble, 19th-century Argentinean brick and Chinese onyx. The guest rooms have Sergio Rodrigues furnishings and Starckian ear-shaped mirrors and come with private balconies affording sweeping views. Overseeing the Al Mare restaurant is a chef from Florence’s Michelin-starred Enoteca Pinchiorri, while the Renata de Abreu Spa offers La Prairie treatments

The culinary tradition of the Fasano family finds a home in Rio de Janeiro at Fasano Al Mare, harmonizing perfectly with the marvelous city. Lead by restaurateur Rogério Fasano, the kitchen is run by chef Paolo Lavezzini, who joined the Fasano team from the Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. The refined menu features the diverse aspects of Mediterranean cuisine, with a special focus on seafood. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the main dining area as well as the inviting terrace. Designed by Philippe Starck to offer beautiful views of the sidewalks of Ipanema, the restaurant also has a private dining area, concealed by white linen curtains, a Starck signature. Scandinavian tables are arranged under a splendid Murano chandelier.

Located on the eighth floor, the pool bar offers an unparalelled panoramic view of Ipanema beach from an angle that captures Arpoador, the Morro Dois Irmãos and the Corcovado, exclusively for hotel guests.
