- Book your flight

Those three platforms allow you to search across airlines, routes, and date combinations at once—which means they can save you time and money by presenting every possible option.
- Book your accommodation
Before booking your accommodation, think about where you’d like to stay. Are you going to be staying in one of Italy’s stunning seaside towns or are you planning on being immersed deep within one of Europe’s world-famous cities? Whichever area you choose, it’s advisable to book your accommodation well ahead of time. Accommodation tends not to be as cheap during peak season, so try and book during off-peak times for maximum savings!
- Rent a car with self-drive
In many destinations, it’s easier to hire a car with self-drive than it is to get public transport. If you find yourself wanting to go somewhere that requires ferries or long bus journeys, renting a car will make your life easier and allow you more freedom of movement during your trip. A trip to Rome is best undertaken by breaking it up into three days of walking tours and eating. Luckily, there’s plenty of overlap between these activities. So you can spend your first day meandering from Colosseum to Pantheon and skipping from Piazza Navona to Campo dei Fiori before retiring for a long restorative dinner at Antico Forno Roscioli. Day two will be dedicated entirely to Vatican City, allowing you ample time for both St. Peter’s Basilica and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel (and giving you an excuse for indulging in an early lunch).
