Where European nobility once gathered and holidayed, the five-bedroom Villa Gelsomino is now an incredibly charming hideaway for anyone looking for a private, authentically Italian break overlooking one of the country’s prettiest scenes: the Gulf of Portofino.
It was built in 1874 in the traditional style of the time and still has frescoed ceilings, Genoese marble grit floors, and antique furnishings that blend with touches of elegance and comfort for its guests.
700 m2 of Mediterranean garden with secular palm trees surround the villa. There’s also a lateral garden with solarium areas, a Jacuzzi, a gazebo with roses, a table and chairs for a good cup of tea, and a vegetable garden to prepare km 0 smoothies.
The villa is run and managed by a team of professionals whose commitment to sustainable tourism has resulted in a plastic-free and carbon-neutral environment.
ACCOMMODATION
Villa Gelsomino has two floors and hosts four double king-size rooms with sea views and one family suite for four. Every room is provided with a private bathroom with a shower, air conditioning, a Nespresso machine, a kettle, tea, and herbal tea stations. In all the rooms, you can admire the typical Genoese floors and the frescoes on the original ceilings from 1874.
The villa is also available for exclusive use and can host weddings. For an extra-special stay, book the extra-large Portofino Suite with balcony facing Portofino!
DINING
There is no restaurant at Villa Gelsomino; however, artisanal breakfasts prepared by Miss Maya showcase the region’s finest ingredients each morning—fruit and vegetables from the villa’s garden too—and a personal chef, by prior arrangement, can prepare dinners made from typical Ligurian produce.
ACTIVITIES
Villa Gelsomino is located 300 meters from the center of Santa Margherita Ligure and from the train station.
Many tailored experiences can be arranged, from in-room massages to excursions by e-bike, boat tours to San Fruttuoso Abbey and Cinque Terre, plus golfing in Rapallo.
